Based on the study done on 9 January 2006, the following is the statistical values of how people rate their own stupidity. 1 respondent was invited to participate in this single subject study. Informed consent was obtained from the respondent and respondent confidentiality was assured before carrying out the following study . This study is a quantitative research done over a duration of 10 minutes. It was conducted in the home of the respondent, in the morning before the respondent left for school. The study consists of the respondent making two sandwiches using bread, cheese and a rectangular tin of luncheon meat. The results are as follows:
No. of slices of bread: 3
No. of slices of cheese: 1
No. of tins of luncheon meat: 1
No. of times respondent tried to open tin of luncheon meat: 1/2
(Researcher's note: tin was of the "turning key" kind and the metal broke halfway during the opening of the tin due to respondent's incompetence.)
No. of times respondent thought of using can opener to finish opening tin: 2
(Researcher's note: But respondent decided that can opener CANNOT open RECTANGULAR tins.)
No. of times respondent thought of using BARE HANDS to try to pry tin open: 5
No. of times respondent ACTUALLY DID try to pry tin open using BARE HANDS: 5
No. of times respondent got "TINY PAPER CUTS" by the tin in BOTH hands: 8
No. of times respondent attacked tin with a KNIFE: 3
No. of times respondent attacked tin with a RICE LADLE: 1
No. of times respondent decided to scoop luncheon meat out of tin with spoon: 1
No. of scoops required to empty tin of luncheon meat: 6
No. of times respondent thought scooped luncheon meat looked like DOG FOOD: 9
No. of sandwiches made FINALLY: 2
No. of times respondent felt UTTERLY STUPID, IDIOTIC and MORONIC all at the same time: 1 billion
This study has concluded that the average human being thinks that he/she is stupid for more then 1 billion times a day. Research has shown that excessive thoughts of stupidity has detrimental effects on an individual's overall mental and physical well-being, and may eventually result in negative effects in long-term. However, this study has a small sample size of only 1 subject, and further studies involving larger sample sizes are necessary in order to support generalization of the above results to the global population.
