well... after 3 wks of work... i noticed a strange phenomenon: customers came in herds... as in 1 herd will stampede by n we'll get smothered by them, followed by an uncanny period of no customers at all, den de next herd will flock by n threatened 2 engulf us again...n it really doesn't help tt i usually do morning shifts n de morning shift staff includes moi n an uncle FULLSTOP. it's like dis mentality: "oh look! there's no one buying fr de shop... k, i shan't buy too..." den: "oh wow! look at de crowd~!! i hafta chup4 ji3 ka1 n get something too..."i mean i'm not being oversensitive or anything, cos tt's really wat happens... maybe it's dis sadistic side of everyone... sorta like: "oh look! there's only 1 man doin all de toasts n kopi (i'm only de cashier n i noe ZERO abt toast n kopi)... he seems so busy... wow... i shall make him busier..." dis doesn't happen only at lunchtime u noe... it happens ALL. THE. TIME. n when we haf extra help fr another colleague hu cums by at ard lunch hour, no customers cum!! like wow~!!i've also noticed during my afternoon shifts, which lasts till 10pm at nite, tt at ard 9.30pm, when we're closing n stop taking orders, a huge crowd will gather once more n "stop" us fr closing on time... b/w 8 - 9.15, there's virtually NO customers... but at 9.20, there will almost definitely be a herd of customers trying 2 beat our closing time... it's not as if pple get off fr their work at 9pm rite? like totally weird...till now, dis remains de greatest mystery of dis period of my life... izzit de s'porean kiasu attitude or something else? beats me...

Post a CommentI TOTALLY AGREE with you!!! tt time when i was working at the bubble tea shop... one person manning the shop only... den when the pple come u hafta be on ur feet for more den 30 mins concocting tea non-stop... think ard 60 plus cups bah... den their orders all so luan4 dunno which order is whose... everybody juz su2 ka4 su2 ka4 anyhow shout their orders! n when they're all gone i gotta shou1 shi4 can2 ju2 n start clearing up the mess... den later i'll juz start rotting for a few hours...
so basically i get irritated when i'm too busy and when i'm too free... which makes it most of the day loh... sad rite haha.

ahahaha... i totally agree~!! den i got dis irritating customer de other day hu wanted soft boiled eggs... den our eggs r precooked den we juz reheat wif hot water only wad... so not my fault tt de eggs were over cooked tt day... de whole batch is liddat one wad... but NO... he wanted PERFECT eggs... so i had 2 crack like 6 EGGS b4 he grudgingly took de last 2 eggs... so i'm like left wif 4 wasted eggs lar... hmph~!! den he still sae things like, "hey! i'm bugis jxn staff leh... can complain u one u noe... haiyah k lar... forgive u lar..." DUH~!! bugis jxn staff v BIG ah? siao~!! n complain lar! eggs not i cook one mah... DUH again!
